Nutrient #1  Alpha Lipoic Acid

If you think the pharmaceutical industry is looking after your best interests…
 
Here is a true story about how one doctor defied medical tyrants out of desperation to cure a married couple from liver failure!
 
In 1977, John and Eunice were admitted to hospital in Cleveland, Ohio after ingesting deadly amanita mushrooms. They were diagnosed with acute liver failure and with liver transplants not a common solution, death was unavoidable. [10]
 
The doctor over-seeing John and Eunice assigned a medical resident of Case Western Reserve who had never had one single patient die on his watch called Dr Berkson.
 
Dr Berkson made contact with Dr Fred Bartler at the National Institute of Health hoping he could advise him on this extremely rare situation.  He suggested Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA). 
 
Dr Bartler cited that animal studies had shown it helped with severe liver damage. [1]

The next day they began administering intravenous alpha lipoic acid to John and Eunice and its effect was miraculous!
 
The alpha lipoic acid stimulated rapid liver regeneration and within two weeks John and Eunice fully recovered, went home and lived for another 36 years and well into their late 80’s!
 
So here is the villain bit of the story…
 
Rather than being added to the medical journal as a revolutionary and speedy recovery story…
 
Sadly, Dr Berkson was severely criticised for not following medical protocol and was told to ‘quit fooling around with alpha lipoic acid!’
 
But it doesn’t stop there with the recriminations he suffered for being a ‘misfit’ in the hospital system…
 
Other patients at the hospital who similarly were on death's door with liver failure... under Dr Berkson’s care were administered alpha lipoic acid against hospital requests because he couldn’t bear to see them die.
 
Because of Berkson’s misconduct he was accused of harming these patients.
 
The hospital then went on to alter the records of these patients while continuing to ostracise and humiliate Berkson. 
 
Eventually, Berkson opened his own private practice where he passionately continued to save patients with liver disease.
 
With the incredible support of Dr Bartler, Dr Berskon continued his work with alpha lipoic acid with amazing success.
 
Here’s the scariest thing about Berkson’s story…

Taking lactobacillus acidophilus has many benefits such as protecting and boosting the immune system, eliminating poisons, preventing viruses and pathogens. It aids the gut and the liver to restore from the use of antibiotics/ drugs plus it helps absorb nutrients.
 
A large amount of the body’s immune function is heavily reliant on the digestive tract. 
 
L. Acidophilus is a friendly probiotic and recognizes harmful pathogens living in the immune system. It protects the bacteria to stimulate antibodies and stop harmful microorganisms such is E-coli, H.Pylori and salmonella.
 
Lactobacillus acidophilus eliminates toxicity particularly when you eat foods that are contaminated with bad toxins or bacteria.  
 
This probiotic helps to digest food. It produces peroxide hydrogen, lactic acid along with other substances, which fights unwelcomed harmful organisms. L.Acidophilus makes lactase, an enzyme that changes lactose into ordinary sugar.

Lactobacillus Salivarius
 
Lactobacillus Salivarius (L.salivarius) is a bacteria that lives in our saliva. It metabolizes carbohydrates to produce lactic acid and acetic acid. It lives in the colon, small intestines, vagina and mouths.
 
Taking L.salivarius stops the growth and spread of pathogens along with other microorganisms that cause disease and infection. It does this by producing hydrogen peroxide and adds antimicrobial compounds. 
 
This probiotic improves oral hygiene and prevents intestinal diseases. It has the ability to create a lot of bacteria that fights against the development of plaque and gum disease.
 
Lactobacillus salivarius is also in our small intestine and it helps eliminate gastrointestinal problems, which is very important as 70 percent of our immune system is in the gut. It targets invading pathogens and helps with the digestion of protein…[54]
 
Lactobacillus Paracasei
 
Lactobacillus paracasei (L.paracasei) is commonly found in the mouth and intestinal tract. This bacterium has a positive effect on the immune system and the digestion.
 
It also prevents diarrhoea and is very effective for relieving common conditions such as yeast infections.
 
L.paracasei helps the body’s immune function and its antioxidant capabilities are extremely useful to counteract oxidative stress.
 
Recent studies suggest that L.paracasei may assist in combating weight gain. It has shown to be successful in reducing body fat and visceral fat. Visceral fat is an unhealthy fat that can cover major organs including the liver.

Lactobacillus Rhamnosus
 
Lactobacillus rhamnosus (L.rhamnosus) is a friendly lactic acid bacterium which helps normalize the levels of gut microflora.

Bifidobacterium Lactis
 
Bifidobacterium lactis (B.lactis) is considered the superstar of gut health because of its ability to aid weight loss, blood sugar balance, strengthen immunity and heart health.
 
A study demonstrated that B.lactis reduced fat and glucose intolerance in mice with obesity and diabetes. It reduced an inflammatory substance called lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from bad bacteria.
 
It was also noted that this probiotic not only reduced inflammation in the mice but it also enhanced nitric oxide and antioxidant levels.

Bifidobacterium Breve
 
Bifidobacterium breve (B.breve) is an essential bacterium found in breast milk and gastrointestinal tracts in both babies and adults.
 
B.breve is great for gut health, obesity, infection, asthma and celiac disease. It creates an antiviral immune response and protects against influenza.
 
It also significantly reduced fat mass in 52 adults with the propensity for obesity.
